Ebay Store

June 09, 2009 By: Alberto Category: Home Business

Opening a personalized store on eBay is probably the fastest and easiest way to get your eBay business off the ground. With eBay, and especially once you have a store up and running, you can enjoy the freedom and flexibility of running your own business, all while still being around to raise your kids.

Starting an eBay store is fast and easy. Obviously the first thing you will need is a computer with the Internet. Once you have that covered (if you do not already), go to ebay.com. You will need to set up an account with eBay in order to become an eBay seller. Once you have done that, click on the “Sell” tab on eBay’s site. Follow the instructions they have online in order to set up your seller account. There are also FAQs and “Help” sections on eBay’s website if you have trouble or questions.

It is important to note that eBay does charge sellers fees for their auctions (the website has to make money too, of course), but these fees are very small and not due until your items have sold. You can pay these fees all at once at the beginning at a discounted rate, or you can choose to pay these fees in monthly increments over time. What you choose should be largely based on the prices of your items, how much you are selling, and your financial situation.

In addition to an eBay account, you will also need a PayPal account. Simply go to paypal.com and register an account by following their directions. Like with eBay, if you have trouble or questions, there are “Help” sections on the website. You will need to enter your bank account information with PayPal and eBay, but these sites are very secure. Once this is done, make sure that you “Confirm” your address in your PayPal account. This makes you much more trustworthy and often buyers and sellers will avoid accounts that do not have confirmed addresses.

Once your store is set up and ready to go, the first items you sell should be the unused and unwanted items from around your house. You will eventually have to buy items to resell, but your own home is an especially good resource to start with.

eBay is a great tool for making money from home because it is easy and eBay takes care of most of the work for you. Just find great items to sell, respond to customer questions, and make sure that you ship your sold items promptly.
